Abia APC Denies Endorsement Plot
A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Abia State, Mascot Uzor-Kalu, has accused party leaders of planning to impose a preferred candidate ahead of the party’s selection process.
He raised the concern in a statement released on Sunday.
He claimed that a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia was being used as a cover for an endorsement arrangement, alleging that selected party officials and local leaders were mobilised under a different agenda.
Kalu insisted that all aspirants must be allowed to participate fairly in the process, stressing that no group should decide the party’s flag bearer without wider consultation.
He also urged party leaders to maintain neutrality and protect internal democracy.
In response, the Abia APC publicity team dismissed the allegation, saying no endorsement has taken place.
The party maintained that it remains committed to a fair and transparent primary election where all aspirants will compete equally.
