ADC Clarifies Appeal Court Ruling
The African Democratic Congress has clarified that Senator David Mark remains its national chairman despite a recent Court of Appeal ruling linked to the party’s leadership dispute.
In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the appellate court did not determine the substantive leadership case.
According to the party, the dispute over the emergence of David Mark as chairman and Rauf Aregbesola as national secretary is still pending before the Federal High Court.
The party explained that the Court of Appeal only addressed procedural issues in the case and did not issue any order affecting the current leadership structure of the ADC.
It added that the court directed all parties to maintain the status quo until the Federal High Court hears and decides the main case.
The ADC urged its members not to be misled by interpretations suggesting a leadership change, insisting that the present national leadership remains valid.
The leadership dispute began after a suit was filed by party chieftain Nafiu Bala Gombe, who challenged the emergence of Mark and Aregbesola.
The Court of Appeal later dismissed an appeal filed by Mark after ruling that it was based on issues not yet determined by the lower court.
