ADC Criticizes Tinubu Over Festival Trip
The African Democratic Congress has criticised President Bola Tinubu for attending the Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State as attacks by armed groups continue across parts of the country.
The party said nearly 1,300 people have been killed within 41 days, with many others, including women and children, still in captivity.
In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the President’s presence at the event as ill-timed.
It argued that while families mourn victims of violence, national attention should remain fixed on tackling insecurity rather than public celebrations.
The party also pointed to a video linked to recent abductions in Kaiama, Kwara State, where gunmen reportedly challenged official casualty figures.
It warned that fresh attacks in Patigi Local Government Area and other parts of Kwara show a troubling spread of violence that could open routes into neighbouring states, including Oyo.
According to the ADC, the pattern of attacks in the Kwara corridor suggests armed groups may be trying to establish a foothold for wider operations.
The party urged urgent security action, warning that allowing such expansion could deepen instability in both the North Central and South West regions.
