ADC Rejects INEC Updated Election Schedule
The African Democratic Congress has rejected the updated election schedule issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission, alleging that the new framework is structured to shut out opposition parties from contesting future polls.
The party said the timetable raises fresh concerns about fairness ahead of the next general elections.
Party officials argued that the revised calendar contains hidden provisions that could make compliance difficult for smaller parties.
They claimed the changes may tilt the political field in favour of established power blocs while restricting open participation.
According to the party, the adjustments go beyond routine administrative planning and could affect how candidates are nominated and screened.
It warned that such measures might weaken public trust in the electoral process if not reviewed.
The commission has yet to issue a response to the claims. Meanwhile, the party says it is considering further steps as debate grows over preparations for the coming elections.
