ADC Secretariat Launch Turns Chaotic
In Bakassi Local Government Area of Cross River State, the opening of a new African Democratic Congress secretariat was disrupted on Saturday after a group of unidentified men attacked the venue and scattered party members.
The incident happened shortly before the event was scheduled to begin. Witnesses said the men stormed the location, damaged property and forced many people at the gathering to flee.
Videos circulating online show a tense scene at the venue as the attackers made it clear that they did not want any political party operating in the area apart from the All Progressives Congress.
The disruption has raised concerns among political observers about rising tension as parties begin preparations for future elections in the state.
