ADC Shocks APC In FCT Election
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) claimed its first polling unit victory in the Federal Capital Territory’s ongoing Area Council elections, defeating the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) at polling unit 076, Sani Abacha Estate, Wuse Zone 4.
Only 10 ballots were cast amid low turnout, with ADC taking seven votes, APC two, and one ballot invalid.
The low participation mirrored trends across several areas of the FCT, where movement restrictions earlier announced by the FCT Minister created confusion for voters.
ADC candidate Dr. Moses Paul also reported intimidation of party agents in wards including Takum Shara and parts of Kabusa.
He said some representatives received threats aimed at suppressing voter turnout and influencing results in favour of APC.
Despite these challenges, Dr. Paul praised officials at his unit for following due process, criticised vote buying in the capital, and called on residents to resist pressure, maintain civic vigilance, and demand accountability as results continue to be collated.
