Adelabu Pushes IBEDC On Swift Free Meters
The Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has instructed the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company to speed up the distribution of free prepaid meters to customers under its coverage area.
The directive was issued as part of efforts to address complaints over estimated billing and improve transparency in electricity supply.
Adelabu called on the company to ensure that eligible customers receive the meters without delay.
Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company, which serves several states in the south-west, has faced growing pressure from consumers demanding fair billing and better service delivery.
The minister’s move is aimed at easing those concerns.
The push for faster meter deployment forms part of the federal government’s broader plan to strengthen accountability in the power sector and protect electricity users from arbitrary charges.
