Allegation Trails Kebbi Deputy Gov Over Rice
The Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Umar Abubakar Tafida, has been accused of distributing expired rice as Ramadan palliatives to residents.
The allegation was raised by agricultural consultant Mallam Jabir, who shared photos on the social platform X showing bags of rice reportedly spoiled and branded “Kaura Tafida.”
Jabir criticised the alleged distribution, describing it as disrespectful to vulnerable communities and calling for accountability from political leaders.
He also questioned the welfare approach of officials, arguing that citizens deserve better support during the fasting period.
The claims have not yet received an official response from the Kebbi State government.

Similar controversies over food palliatives have surfaced in the past across different states, especially during periods of hardship and crisis, often raising concerns about quality control and transparency in distribution.
