Liverpool endured a heart-breaking 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on matchday 23 of the Premier League, with the hosts clinching victory deep into stoppage time.

Arne Slot’s side started strongly, but Bournemouth threatened on the counter. In the 26th minute, a misclearance from Virgil van Dijk allowed Alex Scott to send in a cross that Evanilson tapped in to open the scoring.

The home team doubled their lead in the 33rd minute when James Hill found Alejandro Jiménez, who broke free and fired past Alisson Becker to make it 2-0.

Liverpool responded before halftime, with captain Van Dijk heading in a corner to pull one back and make it 2-1, giving the Reds hope heading into the break.

The second half saw Liverpool push for an equalizer. Dominik Szoboszlai delivered a brilliant free-kick to level the score at 2-2, marking his third set-piece goal of the season.

Bournemouth stayed dangerous, with Ryan Christie testing Alisson on multiple occasions—first with a fierce shot and then by setting up Evanilson in a one-on-one, only for the goalkeeper to make crucial saves. Liverpool also had a chance through Florian Wirtz, but Đorđe Petrović kept the hosts in the game with a vital stop.

The drama continued in stoppage time. In the 95th minute, a throw-in into the box caused confusion in Liverpool’s defense, allowing Amine Adli to finish calmly and secure a 3-2 victory for Bournemouth.

The final whistle confirmed an agonizing defeat for Liverpool, while Bournemouth celebrated a dramatic late win that will be remembered for its tension and late twist.
