The Ondo State Security Network, Amotekun, has intensified security across boarding schools in the state following intelligence suggesting potential bandit attacks.
Corps Commander Adetunji Adeleye disclosed on Tuesday that the corps has increased patrols and surveillance, especially at schools in border towns and outskirts, to ensure the safety of students.
“In response to recent security breaches and kidnapping reports, we have launched enhanced patrols in all boarding schools across the state,” Adeleye said. “Over the past week, we have visited many schools, mounted continuous surveillance, and strengthened our 24/7 patrols, including ember month border operations, to protect residents.”
During the operation, Amotekun paraded three suspected kidnappers—Olamiju (35), Udofia, and Miracle—who were arrested at Agbaje camp in Ala-Dada, Akure North LGA while allegedly attempting an abduction.
Additionally, 13 other suspects were presented for various offences including theft, armed robbery, and breaches of the state’s anti-grazing law.
Adeleye also highlighted the success of Operation Le Won Jade, conducted across all 18 local government areas of Ondo State, noting that it has significantly disrupted the activities of bandits and criminals in the forests.
Of the 34 arrests made in the past week, 16 suspects were paraded, including:
- Abubakar, 24, for anti-grazing in Ogbese
- Usman, for stealing a drilling machine
- Ibuba, for anti-grazing violations
- Uche, for defrauding POS users
