Amupitan Warns Staff Over 2027 Polls
The chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan, has told staff of the electoral body that the 2027 general election must be conducted in a free and fair manner.
He gave the directive while addressing officials of the commission during an internal engagement.
Amupitan said the commission must remain firm in protecting the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process as preparations gradually begin for the next general election.
He reminded staff that their actions would shape public trust in the country’s democracy.
The INEC chairman also urged officials across different departments to remain professional and strictly follow the rules guiding election management.
He said the commission must show neutrality while carrying out its responsibilities.
He added that the electoral body would continue to improve its systems and procedures to ensure transparency and confidence in the voting process ahead of 2027.
