The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr Sly Ezeokenwa, has praised the conduct of Saturday’s Anambra governorship election, describing it as one of the most transparent and well-organised elections in the state’s history.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday in Awka following Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s victory, Ezeokenwa commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for delivering a free, credible, and peaceful exercise.
According to the official results announced by the Returning Officer and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Soludo of APGA emerged victorious in the November 8 poll with 422,664 votes, defeating his closest challenger, Chief Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who secured 99,445 votes.
Ezeokenwa said the state had never witnessed an election as transparent as this, attributing the success to INEC’s commitment to fairness and order.
“INEC deserves commendation for ensuring transparency and fairness throughout the process,” he stated.
He also thanked the people of Anambra and the media for their peaceful and cooperative conduct during the election period.
“I appreciate residents for maintaining peace before, during, and after the polls, and I commend the media for their professionalism in covering the process,” he added.
