APC And Adeleke Trade Loan Accusations
A political dispute has broken out in Osun State as the All Progressives Congress accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of planning to secure a N300 billion loan using local government funds as collateral.
The allegation was made in a statement by the state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal.
According to the opposition party, the governor allegedly moved to seek the loan after losing legal battles over the control of local government councils in the state.
The APC also claimed that meetings were held with council officials and senior officers to gain support for the proposed borrowing plan.
The party warned financial institutions against getting involved in what it described as an illegal move.
It argued that local government funds cannot be used for such borrowing without the approval of key federal authorities and the relevant council leadership.
The state government quickly rejected the claims, describing them as false and politically motivated.
Governor Adeleke’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, said the administration has no plan to obtain any N300 billion loan and accused the APC of spreading misinformation to cover its own actions regarding local government funds.
