Aso Rock Set to Exit National Grid
The Aso Rock Presidential Villa will disconnect completely from the national electricity grid by March 2026 after completing its solar power project.
The disclosure was made by the State House Permanent Secretary, Temitope Fashedemi.
According to officials, the transition to solar energy is part of efforts to ensure stable and independent power supply for the Presidential Villa.
The move is also expected to reduce reliance on the public grid and cut long term energy costs.
The solar installation is designed to provide steady electricity for offices and residential quarters within the complex.
Authorities say the project aligns with broader government plans to promote renewable energy and sustainability.
With the March deadline in view, preparations are underway to finalise integration and ensure a smooth switch from the national grid.
