Atiku Aide Fires Back After Bwala Interview
Phrank Shaibu, a media aide to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has criticised presidential spokesperson Daniel Bwala over his appearance on Al Jazeera’s Head to Head programme hosted by Mehdi Hasan.
Shaibu described the interview as embarrassing and questioned Bwala’s defence of the current administration during the discussion.
The criticism followed Bwala’s reaction to public backlash after the interview aired.
Shaibu said the presidential aide should avoid giving lessons about courage, arguing that his political history reflects shifting alliances rather than firm convictions.
Shaibu also recalled that Bwala once contacted the Atiku media team asking them to issue a statement claiming that President Bola Tinubu and his associates were threatening his life.
According to him, the request was rejected because it appeared to be an attempt to create political drama rather than address a genuine issue.
He further claimed that the Al Jazeera interview exposed contradictions between Bwala’s past criticisms of the government and his current role defending it.
Shaibu added that when confronted with earlier statements and governance concerns, the presidential aide struggled to respond convincingly and relied on dismissing criticisms as fake news.
