The Borno State Government has set aside N12.9 billion to sponsor 54 students for aeronautics and engineering studies at the Isaac Balami University of Aeronautics and Management.
The move is part of efforts to build skilled manpower in the aviation sector.
At a ceremony in Maiduguri, Governor Babagana Zulum presented an initial cheque of N2.5 billion to cover yearly tuition and related expenses for the beneficiaries.

He said the programme would open new doors for young people in the state.
Each of the 54 students also received N500,000 to support their resumption and other immediate needs. The support is aimed at easing the financial burden as they begin their studies.
The government said the investment reflects its plan to equip youths with technical skills and prepare them for careers in aviation and engineering.
