CBN Issues Statement On Tinubu’s N5000 Note
The Central Bank of Nigeria has warned Nigerians about a fake ₦5,000 note circulating online, bearing the image of Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The clarification came after images of the note gained traction on social media, raising concerns among the public.
The bank explained that the image is not an official currency and does not exist in Nigeria’s legal tender.
It stressed that no such denomination has been approved or introduced into circulation at any time.
According to the apex bank, the misleading content appears to be digitally created and shared to deceive unsuspecting citizens.
It urged Nigerians to ignore the images and avoid spreading false information.
The CBN also advised the public to rely only on official communication channels for updates on currency matters, warning that sharing unverified content could create confusion and disrupt public trust in the financial system.
