Former Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner Phyna has announced that she will no longer urge people to audition for the reality show, saying it has lost much of its credibility.
Speaking on a Twitch livestream, Phyna, whose real name is Ijeoma Otabor, said the show may bring contestants instant fame while they are in the Big Brother house, but that attention rarely lasts after they leave.
She explained that fans quickly shift their focus to new housemates, leaving former contestants struggling to maintain relevance.
“The charm housemates have on the show doesn’t stick around afterward because the same fan base just moves from one person to another. There’s nothing new,” she said.
Phyna also noted that BBNaija no longer commands the respect it once did. “When you tell someone now that you came out of BBNaija, they won’t rate you the way they did before,” she added.
She cautioned that many believe appearing on the show guarantees instant wealth or long-term fame, but life after BBNaija can be challenging, with former contestants facing pressure to stay visible and secure deals.
