Social media activist VeryDarkMan has publicly called out Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson and her husband over the alleged arrest and detention of a lady who made a video repeating claims she saw online about the couple.

In a video address, VeryDarkMan said he had received several messages concerning the lady’s arrest, which was allegedly carried out after she shared a video based on information from an Instagram blog. He stressed that the lady clearly stated she was not the source of the claims.

“Alright, so, Mercy Johnson, a lot of people have been sending me DMs in respect of the girl that you arrested. According to them, they said it’s your husband that arrested the girl over a video that she made,” he said.

VeryDarkMan explained that in the video, the lady repeatedly used the word “allegedly” and cited QTJuice as her source. He added that shortly after the issue escalated, the blog reportedly went private and the lady deleted her video.

“After watching the video, this girl literally stated her source. She said QTJuice is her source. She never said she was the one,” he said, while also questioning the credibility of faceless blogs that regularly post unverified stories.

Condemning the alleged arrest, VeryDarkMan insisted that the issue should be handled legally and not through police action.

“If you have a problem with the girl, take her to court. Na civil matter. You don’t use police to oppress somebody. Go and release the girl,” he said.

He also drew comparisons to previous high-profile cases involving defamation, arguing that arrests are often used as a tool of intimidation.

“This is intimidation and oppression. Using police to oppress. That’s what you are doing,” he added.

VeryDarkMan further warned that legal steps would be taken if the lady was not released, noting that she reportedly has an upcoming wedding.

“We go send lawyer. We no dey beg. Let the girl go,” he said.

Despite his criticism, he acknowledged Mercy Johnson’s status in Nollywood, adding, “I love you, Mercy Johnson. To me, you are the greatest actress of all time. But we will not allow this.”

As of the time of this report, Mercy Johnson and her husband have not publicly responded to the allegations.
