Content creator Eddie Bliss has publicly apologised to actress Mercy Johnson and her family following the withdrawal of a defamation case, which led to her release from police custody.
Bliss had shared unverified information from an online blog, which reportedly caused distress to Mercy Johnson and her husband, Prince Henry Okojie.
In a video statement, Eddie Bliss admitted her error and thanked Mercy Johnson for showing leniency.
“I came across a post from a blog called Cutie Julls and shared it on my page without verifying the facts. That video caused a lot of harm and hurt to the family of Mr and Mrs Okojie. I am sincerely sorry for any damage I have caused,” she said.
She added, “I also want to say thank you very much, ma, for dropping the charges against me. You don’t know what you have done for my family and me.” In the caption of her video, she wrote: “Thank you so much, ma, I truly appreciate your kindness. I am very sorry for the inconvenience I caused you and your family. God bless you again.”
Bliss had been arrested after Mercy Johnson reported her to the police for spreading false and damaging claims about her and her husband. Mercy Johnson explained that she chose to drop the case out of respect for those who intervened but warned that she would not tolerate the circulation of false information about her family in the future.
