The full list of subjects under Nigeria’s newly introduced school curriculum has appeared online after Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, shared it Wednesday on his X handle.
Olusegun posted an unsigned document showing subjects for both Junior Secondary School (JSS) and Senior Secondary School (SSS), confirming that the updated curriculum will take effect from September 2025.
According to the Federal Government, the revised curriculum adds compulsory digital literacy and entrepreneurship at the JSS level, while programming, artificial intelligence, and additional language options feature prominently for SSS students.
Junior Secondary (JSS 1–3):
- Mathematics & Measurement (fractions, ratios, geometry, algebra, statistics)
- English Language (essay writing, advanced grammar, debates, drama)
- Integrated Science (physics, chemistry, biology, earth science, lab safety)
- Digital Literacy & Coding (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet research, Python basics, Scratch, robotics)
- Social Studies (history, geography, civics, entrepreneurship basics)
- Languages (advanced mother tongue, conversational French/Arabic)
- Creative Arts (visual arts, crafts, theatre, music)
- Physical & Health Education (sports, nutrition, reproductive health, first aid)
Senior Secondary (SS 1–3):
- Mathematics & Advanced Applications (trigonometry, calculus, statistics, financial maths)
- English & Communication (academic writing, literary analysis, public speaking, journalism)
- Sciences (advanced physics, chemistry, biology, environmental science)
- Technology & Innovation (programming in Python/JavaScript/HTML, AI, robotics, cybersecurity, digital entrepreneurship)
- Social Sciences (government, law, economics, history, philosophy, entrepreneurship)
- Languages (advanced mother tongue literature, French/Arabic/Chinese)
- Creative Arts & Innovation (fine arts, music, drama, film production)
- Physical & Health Education (mental health, advanced sports, CPR, leadership)
- Research & Project Work (data collection, analysis, presentation, final defense)
Olusegun emphasized that Lagos and other states must prepare for full rollout by the next academic session.
