Umuaka Asa community in Ukwa West LGA of Abia State has installed a shrine to protect public property in the area from being vandalized or stolen by criminal elements.

The traditional Prime Minister of Umuaka Asa, Sampson Nwaigwe, recalled how armoured cable in an electric transformer was vandalized by criminals, among other incidents of theft of peoples property in the community.

According to the Traditional Prime Minister, it was the spike in theft and vandalism that prompted the community to install the shrine to scare and prevent thieves from further destroying or stealing people’s property.

He dismissed the claims that the shrine was installed to stop Christians from freely practicing their religion as widely reported in the media recently.
