The Qatari Ministry of Interior has introduced new visa rules for Nigerian travellers.

The ministry attributed the changes to recent incidents of visa overstays.

According to Naija User, the updated policy requires travellers to book a confirmed return transfer along with hotel reservations before a tourist or transit visa can be processed.

Eligibility has also been narrowed, allowing only females or families to apply. Male travellers are now ineligible unless travelling with their families.

Additionally, only bookings at 5-star hotels will qualify for visa approval.

The new rules are effective immediately and apply to all pending visa applications.
