Prince Harry has returned to the U.K. and reunited with his father, King Charles III, for the first time in over a year in what many see as a possible turning point in their strained relationship.
The Duke of Sussex arrived at Clarence House around 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday in a black SUV and met privately with the King for nearly an hour over tea.
Harry has had a busy schedule during his visit, attending the WellChild Awards and paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II at her burial site on the anniversary of her death. This marks the first face-to-face meeting between father and son since February 2024, when King Charles publicly revealed his cancer diagnosis.
The reconciliation comes after Harry recently expressed his desire to mend ties with his father, whose relationship with him became strained over security concerns. The dispute dates back to 2020, when Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down as working royals and lost their publicly funded security protection.
Despite the tensions, Harry has said he is happier than ever with Meghan and their two children, Prince Archie, 6, and Princess Lilibet, 4, and is now hopeful that the rest of the royal family rift can finally be healed.
