The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Adewale Akanbi, has ignited major controversy by disclosing details of his strained relationship with the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

In a statement that quickly went viral, the Oluwo insisted that reconciliation with the Ooni is impossible, accusing him of betrayal and causing personal turmoil in his life.

He claimed that the Ooni introduced a woman to him, who later became his wife but eventually turned into his ex. According to the Oluwo, the woman lived with him for over three years, had a child whose paternity he now questions, and allegedly poisoned him twice.

Oluwo also alleged that the Ooni continued to support the woman after their fallout. He said he once caught the monarch with her in a hotel and that the Ooni later provided her and the child with accommodation.

“Ooni and I can never settle our fight. I helped him to be on the throne, yet he is looking for my downfall. He packaged a woman for me. She was in my house for over three years and had a child, but I am not even sure of the paternity. She poisoned me twice. After I kicked her out, everybody should ask Ooni what the two of them were doing in the hotel. He then rented an apartment for her and her child. If you all were in my shoes, can you forgive such? This fight is forever,” the Oluwo declared.

The revelations have sparked widespread reactions, further intensifying the feud between two of Yorubaland’s most prominent monarchs.
