Big Brother Naija Season 4 winner, Mercy Eke, has once again set social media buzzing after sharing how she intentionally prepared for her groundbreaking 2019 victory.
Speaking in an interview with Bella Naija, the reality TV star said her success on the show wasn’t by luck but by strategy and determination.
“I calculated all the days we’d be in the house and packed for 99 days. I went there fully prepared,” she revealed. “When I won, I did it for every young woman who has ever been told she can’t. Now, we have more female winners, and many more will come.”
Her statement quickly sparked reactions across social media. While some fans hailed her confidence and credited her for paving the way for other women, others accused her of exaggerating her influence.
An X user, @Detolarnee, commented, “If Tacha wasn’t disqualified, you wouldn’t have won,” while another, @Heylumi_s, said, “You did it for yourself, not for women.”
Supporters, however, defended her legacy, describing her as an inspiration. “She stays grateful, avoids drama, and focuses on growth — that’s why she’ll keep winning,” wrote @Sassenacker.
Mercy Eke made history in 2019 as the first woman to win Big Brother Naija, a feat that transformed her career and opened doors for future female champions in the reality show’s history.
