Convicted billionaire kidnapper Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, popularly known as Evans, was on Monday re-arraigned before the Lagos High Court in Ikeja over the alleged murder of two police officers.
Evans appeared in court with his co-defendant, Joseph Emeka, facing a five-count charge that includes murder, attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit kidnapping.
When the charges were read by Justice A.O. Ogala, both men pleaded not guilty.
Evans, notorious for his high-profile kidnapping cases, is currently standing trial in five separate criminal matters involving kidnapping and murder, having already been convicted in two of them.
The re-arraignment comes days after President Bola Tinubu granted presidential clemency to a number of convicted criminals across Nigeria.
