Nollywood actress Rita Daniels, mother of screen star Regina Daniels, has revealed that she never approved of her daughter’s marriage to billionaire politician Senator Ned Nwoko, contrary to popular belief.

In a resurfaced interview with BBC Igbo, recorded on October 7, 2025, Rita clarified that she neither arranged nor supported the union, insisting that Regina made the decision entirely on her own.

“I never wanted my daughter to marry Ned Nwoko, but she insisted. I didn’t even know when they began seeing each other,” Rita said.

She added that although many have accused her of orchestrating the marriage, she has chosen to shoulder the criticism to protect her daughter. “People keep saying I was behind it, but that’s not true. I’d rather take the blame than allow her to be judged harshly,” she explained.

The resurfaced interview has since sparked fresh discussion across social media, with many questioning Rita’s claims while others expressed sympathy for her position.
