A Magistrate Court in Kuje, Abuja, has ordered the remand of Prince Emmanuel Kanu, brother of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, and his lawyer, Aloy Ejimakor, in prison custody.

The arrests occurred during the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest on Monday, October 20, and the two were arraigned on Tuesday alongside 11 other suspects. They face charges of breach of public peace, according to the police.

The protest caused significant disruption in the Federal Capital Territory, making it difficult for workers and commuters to move around. Authorities noted that the demonstration violated a court injunction that prohibited protests near certain areas of the city.

Last week, the Federal High Court in Abuja had barred Omoyele Sowore and other protesters from demonstrating close to key locations, including the Aso Rock Villa, National Assembly, Force Headquarters, Court of Appeal, Eagle Square, and Shehu Shagari Way, pending the hearing of a motion.

The order was issued by Justice Mohammed Umar following an ex-parte application filed by the police through their lawyer, Wisdom Madaki, on behalf of the federal government.
