Edidion Effiong Okokon, a Nigerian student studying in the United Kingdom, has died following a prolonged battle with a lung disease.

The Nigerian community in the UK confirmed his passing. Okokon was an international student at Teesside University, having arrived in January 2023 with dreams and excitement to begin his academic journey.

Sadly, a few months after his arrival, he was diagnosed with a lung condition that would affect his health until his peaceful passing on October 17, 2025.

Okokon had earned his degree in May 2025, but tragically, he will not live to fully enjoy his achievement.

Friends and members of the Nigerian community are now raising funds to repatriate his remains to Nigeria for burial.
