Human rights activist and #FreeNnamdiKanuNow campaigner, Omoyele Sowore, was re-arrested by officers of the Nigeria Police Force shortly after leaving the Kuje Magistrate Court in Abuja on Friday.
Sowore, along with Nnamdi Kanu’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, a former member of Kanu’s legal team, and ten others, had earlier satisfied their bail conditions following their arrest during a recent protest.
The court had granted bail to each of the defendants in the sum of ₦500,000, with two sureties residing within the Federal Capital Territory, valid identification, and three years of tax clearance.
Despite fulfilling these requirements, witnesses said Sowore was seized by police officers outside the courtroom and forcefully taken to Kuje Prison.
He is expected to be arraigned again on Monday, October 27, on a fresh charge stemming from his recent statement in which he claimed that President Bola Tinubu is a criminal.
