The Lagos State Police Command has announced the passing of Mrs. Matilda Ngbaronye, Chief Superintendent of Police and Divisional Police Officer of Festac Division.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, CSP Ngbaronye died on Friday following surgery at Mayriamville Medical Centre in Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.
Adebisi described her death as a major loss, noting that she was a highly disciplined and dedicated officer known for her professionalism and integrity. She added that Ngbaronye’s commitment, diligence, and compassionate approach significantly strengthened relations between the police and the public.
“The entire Command is deeply shocked by her passing. She consistently performed her duties with excellence and was a role model to many,” Adebisi said.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Olohumdare Jimoh, alongside officers and men of the Command, have expressed condolences to her family, including her aged mother. CP Jimoh also personally contacted her husband and elder brother, a priest, to convey the Command’s sympathy and support.
Details of her burial will be shared later, and prayers have been offered for her eternal rest.
