Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has explained that her invitation to Senate President Godswill Akpabio and other lawmakers for project commissioning events in her constituency was in line with Senate protocol.

The invitation, extended on Thursday, comes just two months after her reinstatement from suspension and coincides with the senator marking her second year in office. Akpoti-Uduaghan emphasized that she submitted the invitation through the presiding officer, requesting it be officially read on the Senate floor, as required by parliamentary procedure.

“Today, as is customary for announcements of this kind, I wrote a letter to the Senate through the presiding officer addressed to the Senate President for reading on the floor,” she said.

“I shared the invitation so it wouldn’t appear that I was celebrating alone. I’m a progressive lawmaker. Despite ongoing court matters, I continue to carry out my duties and follow the proper procedures in the chamber.”

She added that her approach reflects a commitment to due process and respect for institutional norms, emphasizing that the events and project inaugurations were meant to highlight public service rather than personal recognition.
