Cristiano Ronaldo has rejected the notion that Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time.
In a recent interview with British broadcaster Piers Morgan, the Al Nassr captain made it clear that he does not agree with fans who consider the Argentine superstar superior.
“Messi better than me? I don’t agree with that opinion,” the 40-year-old said. “I don’t want to be humble.”
Ronaldo and Messi’s rivalry has defined football for nearly two decades, splitting fans and pundits over who truly deserves the GOAT title. Both have claimed countless trophies for club and country, though Messi leads the Ballon d’Or count with eight wins compared to Ronaldo’s five.
