Atalanta have parted ways with head coach Ivan Juric following a 3-0 home defeat to Sassuolo, which left the team 13th in Serie A after 11 matches.

Juric, appointed in June to replace long-serving Gian Piero Gasperini, was unable to replicate the form that saw Atalanta finish third last season. The club has managed just two league wins so far and trails leaders Inter Milan by 11 points.

“Atalanta BC announces that Ivan Juric has been relieved of his duties as first team coach,” the club said in a statement. “We thank Ivan Juric and his staff for their hard work and wish them all the best for the future.”

The 50-year-old previously had brief stints at AS Roma and Southampton, leaving the latter a day after the club’s relegation from the Premier League.

Local media have suggested former Fiorentina boss Raffaele Palladino as a potential replacement. Atalanta will next face Napoli on November 22 after the international break.
