President Donald Trump is preparing to host Cristiano Ronaldo at the White House on Tuesday, shortly after Portugal sealed their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ronaldo, expected to be one of the biggest global attractions at the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will visit Washington ahead of next year’s festivities. Discussions are also reportedly underway for a potential warm-up friendly between Portugal and the U.S. men’s national team before the World Cup.
Trump, who has hosted FIFA President Gianni Infantino several times at the Oval Office, will now receive one of football’s most iconic figures. Ronaldo had previously expressed a desire to meet the president, and that request is now being granted.
According to MS NOW, three White House officials have confirmed Ronaldo’s scheduled visit, which will take place on the same day Trump is expected to meet with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Whether the meetings are connected remains unclear, especially given Ronaldo’s club career with Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
