Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Group, and Femi Otedola, chairman of First HoldCo Plc, have reportedly had their mobile phones hacked, TheCable reports.

Sources close to both men said the breaches occurred over the past week. While Otedola’s phone was compromised once, Dangote’s device—belonging to Africa’s richest man—was reportedly hacked twice within two days.

It is not yet clear if both men have regained full access to their phones, but insiders confirmed that the hackers made financial demands.

“The hackers are asking for money from both men,” a source told TheCable.

Dangote and Otedola, who share a close friendship and often call each other “brothers,” have been involved in several business initiatives together. Otedola was present when Dangote recently unveiled plans to expand his refinery’s capacity from 650,000 to 1.4 million barrels per day.

Calling Dangote “Africa’s pride,” Otedola praised the lasting impact of his friend’s investments.

“Aliko’s relentless commitment to investing in Nigeria and Africa will outlive him, as these are legacy investments that will define generations,” he said. “Soon, Nigerians will own part of this refinery, a reminder that this vision is not just for Dangote, but for all Nigerians and Africans.”

Otedola, author of the bestselling book Making It Big, recently increased his stake in First HoldCo Plc, acquiring 64.87 million shares valued at N2.01 billion.
