Several Nigerian soldiers were injured after terrorists ambushed troops on a mission to rescue abducted schoolgirls in Kebbi State.
The attack happened just 24 hours after the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, instructed Operation Fasan Yamma troops to intensify operations against the bandits responsible for abducting students from Government Girls Secondary School, Maga.
“You must continue day and night fighting. We must find these children,” Shaibu ordered, urging commanders to act decisively on intelligence reports. “Once you receive information on something like this, act professionally and decisively. This is not just about our image; it is about doing our job properly,” he added.
Troops were directed to maintain around-the-clock operations until all abducted students are safely rescued and reunited with their families.
Despite the orders, the soldiers were ambushed during the rescue mission. Video footage obtained by DAILY POST shows several wounded soldiers lying helplessly without immediate medical attention.
One of the injured soldiers, speaking in Hausa, said: “Musa has a bullet lodged in his leg. His condition is very bad.” The military vehicle used during the operation was also riddled with bullet holes in the attack.
