Moroccan and Paris Saint-Germain defender Achraf Hakimi has been named the 2025 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Player of the Year.
The 27-year-old claimed the top honour ahead of Victor Osimhen of Nigeria (Galatasaray) and Mohamed Salah of Egypt (Liverpool), succeeding Ademola Lookman, last year’s winner.
Hakimi had finished second for the previous two years before finally capturing the accolade. He played a key role in PSG’s historic campaign, helping the club secure Ligue 1, the French Cup, and their first-ever UEFA Champions League title.
Despite being sidelined with an injury, Hakimi made an appearance at Monday’s awards ceremony, arriving with his foot heavily strapped, underlining his commitment to attend the event.
