The Presidency has asked Nigerians to actively support the enforcement of President Bola Tinubu’s directive withdrawing police escorts from certain VIPs.
Daniel Bwala, the President’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, made the appeal during a TVC interview on Sunday, urging citizens to report any breaches.
“If you see a celebrity, business mogul, or any private individual using police protection contrary to the President’s instruction, please document it with photos or videos,” Bwala said.
He clarified that the directive does not remove security details from all government officials, noting that certain key public officers would still receive authorised protection.
Bwala added that in some cases, alternative security agencies such as the State Security Service (SSS) or the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) may be deployed instead of police personnel.
“Police officers should not be attached to individuals who are not on the President’s exemption list. Security support, if needed, will come from SSS or Civil Defence,” he explained.
