Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about why he created his 2020 hit Cash App, revealing that the song was inspired by the struggles of Yahoo boys, or internet fraudsters.
In a recent interview with Clout Africa, Shmurda said he wanted to give those hustling online something to enjoy and celebrate, acknowledging the challenges they face.
“You have to make them happy. Internet fraud is stressful and comes with many challenges,” he said. “Inspiration doesn’t always have a story. It’s natural, it’s God-given. Cash App is divine.”
Featuring Zlatan and Lincoln, Cash App quickly became a hit across Nigeria and other African countries, cementing Bella Shmurda’s status as one of the country’s leading music stars.
