Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, drew attention after she threatened to switch off the microphone of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke for singing too long during a public event in Ile-Ife.

The incident occurred on Sunday during the First Lady’s installation as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua. A video that has gone viral shows Governor Adeleke singing worship songs while giving his speech.

Midway through, Mrs. Tinubu approached the stage and warned the governor to conclude his speech within five minutes or face having the microphone turned off. She was seen mouthing, “I give you five minutes to conclude your speech, enough with the music, or I will switch off the microphone.”

The exchange has sparked a lively debate on social media. While some viewed her intervention as a practical way to manage the program, others criticized the approach as inappropriate, questioning whether such a public warning was fitting for a sitting governor.

Reactions online have ranged from amusement to disapproval, with many users commenting on the boldness of the First Lady’s actions during the ceremony.
