The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) carried out a nationwide protest on December 17, 2025, to call attention to the worsening insecurity in the country, with confirmed rallies in Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu.
Led by NLC President Joe Ajaero, members assembled at strategic locations, including the NLC secretariat in Abuja, ahead of the demonstrations.
The protest went ahead despite a late-night meeting between President Bola Tinubu and NLC leaders aimed at averting the action.
In anticipation, police deployed tactical units and placed commands on high alert in major cities, including Lagos and Abuja. Activities in Enugu were disrupted as part of the nationwide mobilisation.
While the protests were planned across several states, there is no verified report confirming that demonstrations took place in Taraba. Lagos, Abuja, and Enugu remain the only locations with confirmed activity.
The NLC organised the protests to demand urgent government action to address insecurity and ensure the safety of citizens nationwide.
