Wilfred Ndidi has been officially named the new captain of the Super Eagles, succeeding William Troost-Ekong following his retirement from international football.
The announcement was made on Friday via the Super Eagles’ official X account, marking the start of a new leadership era for the Nigerian national team.
Ndidi, who plays his club football with Besiktas, emphasized the importance of teamwork in his new role.
“It’s a huge responsibility, but with the support of the players, everything will go smoothly,” he said.
“I’ve had discussions with several teammates to explain our goals and to seek their support. The staff are also involved—we are all working together. We went over the tasks ahead, and it’s crucial that we stay united and on the same page.”
