Gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Swasun, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Patigi Local Government Area, Kwara State.
The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, September 7, 2025, in the Sakpefu community. According to reports, a five-man gang of armed assailants scaled the fence of Swasun's residence, firing shots into the air to intimidate neighbors. They then forced their way into a room where they found Hajiya Fatima, the chairman’s wife, and his daughter, Amina, and abducted them at gunpoint before fleeing to an undisclosed location.
A member of the APC state executive council confirmed the attack, noting that Swasun narrowly escaped harm. The Kwara State Police Commissioner, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, has reportedly not yet been briefed on the situation.
The abduction has intensified concerns over rising insecurity in Patigi and other parts of Kwara North, where residents have been urging authorities to bolster security. The current whereabouts of the victims remain unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping.
