Nepal Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli resigned on September 9, 2025, following days of violent anti-corruption protests triggered by a controversial social media ban.

The government’s decision to block platforms like Facebook, X, YouTube, and Reddit sparked a youth-led movement, widely called the “Gen Z protests.” Demonstrations escalated into chaos, leaving at least 19 people dead after clashes with security forces.

Despite lifting the ban on September 9, unrest intensified as protesters set fire to parliament, ministers’ homes, and party offices. Kathmandu airport was shut down, a curfew imposed, and helicopters deployed to evacuate top officials.

Amid mounting anger and destruction, Oli stepped down immediately, saying his resignation was to allow for a political and constitutional solution to the crisis.

Would you like me to also make a short headline-style rewrite for this?
