The Anambra State Government, through the Ministry of Transport, has taken its water safety sensitization campaign to Otuocha, Anambra East.
With the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) earlier predicting rising water levels this season, the Omambala River has begun to swell. In response, the government is proactively educating residents on the importance of water safety and the consistent use of life jackets.

In a commendable show of support, the Federal Ministry of Blue and Marine Economy has donated over 300 life jackets to Anambra East. This gesture underscores the need for collective responsibility in ensuring the safety of riverine communities.
The people of Otuocha appreciated the Governor Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo for facilitating this initiative and also the Honourable Commissioner for Transport, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, for her relentless efforts in driving the sensitization program.
As the flood season intensifies, residents of Anambra East are strongly encouraged to embrace these protective measures, especially the use of life jackets, to safeguard lives and prevent avoidable tragedies.
