Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has successfully completed her attempt to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest pot of jollof rice, drawing thousands of supporters to witness the historic feat at the Gino World Jollof Festival held at Eko Hotel & Suites, Lagos.

Baci and her team worked for about nine hours to prepare the enormous meal, cooking with 200 bags of rice in a specially constructed pot capable of holding 22,619 litres. The pot, measuring nearly six metres in both width and height, was designed specifically to handle the technical and safety requirements of the challenge.
Once completed, the rice was distributed to more than 30,000 people in takeaway packs, with many attendees bringing coolers to carry portions home. The atmosphere at the venue was festive, with music, cheers, and an overwhelming sense of pride as Nigerians celebrated the chef’s latest milestone.
Government officials also acknowledged the event. The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, through a representative, praised Baci’s achievement, describing it as a demonstration of Nigeria’s creativity and global excellence.
Although the cooking is complete, Baci now awaits official verification from Guinness World Records to confirm whether her attempt will be recognized as the largest pot of jollof rice ever cooked.
Hilda Baci, who previously set the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in May 2023, has once again drawn global attention, reinforcing her reputation as one of Africa’s most determined culinary figures.
