Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci has revealed that the giant pot used in her record-breaking attempt for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice will neither be sold nor auctioned.
At a press conference held on Saturday at Gino Nigeria’s Lagos office, Baci announced plans to restore the pot to its original condition and make it publicly accessible — potentially in a museum or other public space.
She described the pot as more than just cookware, calling it a powerful symbol of history, faith, and innovation. According to Baci, the painstaking process of creating the pot gives it cultural and historical value that should be preserved for future generations.
“Trust me, so many people have asked about that pot. Some want to buy it, some suggest we should auction it. But we’re not going to sell it. We want as many people as possible to see it in all its glory,” she said.
Baci emphasized that the pot embodies Nigerian cuisine and heritage, adding that she hopes it will continue to educate, inspire, and celebrate Nigerian culture for years to come.
On September 12, 2025, Baci partnered with Gino to set a new Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz).
The event attracted a huge crowd at Victoria Island, Lagos, including prominent figures like Funke Akindele, Ogun State First Lady Bamidele Abiodun, and dancer Kaffy, turning it into a grand celebration of Nigerian culinary excellence.
This accomplishment comes two years after Baci’s famous 2023 cook-a-thon, where she cooked non-stop for over 100 hours, earning global recognition and solidifying her status as a culinary icon.
