Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is set to spend around two months on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City.
The 23-year-old started the match but was forced off at half-time, with Bukayo Saka coming on in his place.
Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed the injury scare after the game, saying: “He had an issue very early in the match and he wasn’t well enough to continue.”
Scans carried out on Monday ruled out an ACL tear, according to The Athletic, but the England international will still miss several key games, including at least one international window.
Madueke’s injury further deepens Arsenal’s attacking crisis. Kai Havertz is still recovering from knee surgery, Gabriel Jesus remains out with an ACL injury, and captain Martin Odegaard continues to struggle with a shoulder problem.
That leaves summer signing Viktor Gyökeres as Arsenal’s only fit natural striker heading into a busy period of fixtures.
